The most prestigious competition for maritime law students worldwide

Scale your career.

Be a part of this unique maritime moot competition.

If you are a law student from the University of Copenhagen who wants to enrich your career with growth, experiences and challenge, you should consider joining the International Maritime Law Arbitration Moot that combines international arbitration with disputes in the commercially important maritime field.

We welcome all students who are academically committed and who would consider a career within international dispute work.

General INformation.

The moot is eligible for up to 30 ECTS. In order to receive credit for participation, participants must complete the moot according to the rules on the Projektorienteret forløb. This means that each of the participants must hand in the team's (one or both) pleadings. You can choose to hand in both pleadings and obtain 30 ECTS points or simply hand in a single pleading and obtain 15 ECTS points. Of course, it is also possible to choose not to receive credits.

The moot is a unique opportunity to test your hand at practical legal work, and at the same time it gives you the opportunity to meet other students and practitioners in an international and exciting environment.

The moot culminates by participation in a competition in Sydney, Australia. Travel, lodging and meals are sponsored and there will be no costs for participating students. It is a challenging but fun way to earn your masters ECTS scores and you will be propelled into experiencing real life tasks for dispute lawyers. Four devoted coaches, two attorneys and two assistant attorneys from Hafnia Law Firm with experience in litigation and arbitration will be teaching and coaching the team.

An offshore platform.

+

Nyhavns's harbor picture.

Participation in the moot is eligible for ECTS points on the following terms:

The moot provides an opportunity to earn a maximum of 30 ECTS credits. To obtain credit for participation, adherence to the principles of 'project-oriented progress' (known as 'projektorienteret forløb' in Danish) is required. This entails the submission of one or both of the team’s pleadings in the spring of 2026.

Participants have the flexibility to tailor their approach. You can opt for a comprehensive submission of both pleadings, resulting in the attainment of the full 30 ECTS points. Alternatively, choosing to submit a single pleading is an option that yields 15 ECTS credits. Alternatively, participants may also choose not to pursue ECTS credits.
